Psychotherapy is a treatment for a wide variety of emotional problems such as anxiety, depression, work difficulties, troubled relationships, sexual concerns, and issues of self-esteem. It is based on the belief that individuals are often unaware of factors that determine their emotions and behavior. These unconscious factors can sometimes express themselves in the form of specific symptoms or more general emotional distress. Psychotherapeutic treatment is a partnership focused on helping each patient become aware of the underlying sources of his or her difficulties, not just intellectually, but emotionally, in ways that lead to deep and lasting changes in the person’s life. A consultation can help determine whether psychotherapy is the appropriate treatment for you.
If you are feeling depressed, anxious, angry, irritable, stuck or confused and if your relationships, social life, parenting abilities or work are suffering because you can’t seem to motivate or function properly, it is always a good idea to discuss these concerns with a professional. I think it worthwhile to deal with problems as early in their development as possible. Individual psychotherapy can be the best way to deal with painful or confusing emotions.
Length of treatment depends on many factors including the type of issue, the complexity of your situation, and what you are looking to accomplish. Sometimes brief solution focused interventions are very helpful. In other cases, people may engage in a treatment that will explore the root causes of psychological problems as a pathway towards lasting change. The choice is yours and it can always be discussed at your initial consultation.

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist their cooperation in ensuring their safety. If they do not cooperate, I will take further measures without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure their safety.
I enjoy working collaboratively with clients by exploring unconscious conflicts and developing insight into patterns of behavior. I believe that growth occurs in an atmosphere of respect, compassion and a belief in the human capacity for healing, change and reparation.
A Psychodynamic orientation grounds my work. I have received specialized training in the Psychodynamic/Psychoanalytic model and will also integrate executive coaching (as appropriate) into our sessions to work with the “here and now”.
The cost of therapy is always an important consideration. I participate with some insurance (see patient information page). We can discuss my fees prior to our first billed session.

The frequency of therapy sessions, the length of time we work together, and the termination of treatment are decisions the client and I work out together.
Each session is 45 minutes in length.
